Error: Driver Door Contact Switch

I recently started receiving this error for no reason, just within 15 seconds of starting the vehicle while being parked in my driveway or even being stopped at a red light. After getting this error message and the constant beeping, the emergency brake turns on and the window from behind the driver's door lowers like 5 inches from the top. At this point, I cannot lower the window and I cannot turn off the emergency brake. So in order to reset, I have to turn off the engine then open it behind the driver's door(where the window is lowered) and when closing it back I turn on the engine. This makes the error go away, everything goes back to normal. So ODD but so annoying too. This has happened 3 times in the last 2 weeks. Don't know what triggers this. Does anyone with a similar issue?

I am having the same issue with my 2021 atlas cross sport. I’ve been waiting since the first week in January. I purchased the car in July of 2021. The dealer said there’s been atlas’s eating since November. No ETA on the part in sight. I want another car!

Good luck! My 2021 was at the dealership since November. Just got it back last week March 15.. “fixed”. Can’t wait to get rid of it!
Has anyone received any sort of compensation or had any luck getting in touch with live humans at VW? I have been waiting for a call from my regional case manager and all I have been told is they are scheduled to reach out to me on 3/28. Shop technician told me no ETA on part but once its in they will replace and then likely have to do the "permanent" fix when VW issues the actual fix. How is this happening? What is the explanation for the back order of parts? This is truly unacceptable.

Nope. I got nothing. Didn’t even get a loaner. This is month 5. The regional managers are useless. When you ask about compensation bc you are paying for a car you can’t drive, they say they are sorry for your troubles and once the car is fixed they can look into any sort of compensation. No explanation for back order. They will call you every week or two and say hi we have no eta we will call you again in a week. It’s infuriating.
I submitted right at 30 days for a buy back as there isn’t an ETA for the part. The Regional Manager said it looks like my part will be here in April, right when my timeline for the buy back review is to be done as well. I asked what will this part actually do since VW said they are developing the repair. Haven’t heard back on that at all. I have small kids and honestly I don’t know if I am over reacting but I just don’t trust VW or having my kids in a car that they can’t even permanently fix…. Hence why I submitted a buy back …

Same. Two small kids. I don’t even want the car back. I went to lemon law route!

I got my Atlas back a week ago and had already filed for buyback or replacement and just spoke to that rep today. She offered settlement or buyback because they apparently have a stop sale on the Atlas until this is resolved. The challenge with following through on buyback is getting into another vehicle from any manufacturer right now because they’ve all added thousands to MSRP due to the shortage. I pressured her on when this revised part will be available and because of the stop sale she said they have their timeline as sometime in May. I’m leaning towards settlement because I won’t be able to get the same size vehicle with comparable features if I choose buyback. This whole thing is a disaster.
hi there- do you know if getting your car back negates the buyback request? I got mine back but still want a buyout and am waiting to hear back on the status. They haven’t “fixed”’it- they just put another faulty part in there and want nothing to do with this car anymore….
Finally picked up my Atlas after 85 days of driving a Passat while it sat at the dealership. Miraculously my harness came in just 3 business days before VW had to respond to my buyback request. Glad to have it back. Fingers crossed I have no more issues. Have a call from my customer care regional case supervisor on Tuesday to discuss compensation due to loss of use.
just curious- what do they offer as part of a settlement? Was the buyback offer fair?

No I was offered both. This is partially due to the strict 15 business days out of service Massachusetts has written into our Lemon law. As long as your vehicle let lemon requirements based on time out of service it sounds like you will be able to proceed with buyback.

In NJ it’s 20 days so we went that route as well. No settlement yet…hoping something soon.
Good morning all - first post here and of course it's about the harness issue. Here's the situation: 2021 Atlas SE with 32K miles. Door harness issue began in October. Local dealership was very good at shrugging. Meanwhile parking brake was engaging while the car was driving down the street. Engaging every time the car rolled to a stop. Windows wouldn't work or go down and not go back up. This lasted for six months. Finally I called customer care (and weirdly the part arrived the same day). The car no longer has an error but something is still off. VW CC offered to buy me a service, and I told them to stuff it - I told them that my parking brake engaging ten times a day surely had affected the brakes, brake pads, tires, axles, whatever. So the big question is - should we all get together and take this to court?

It’s a good question. Mine was “fixed” (though it’s a fake fix because at this point they are just fixing with the same faulty part) and my car does not feel the same/right at all since being returned. Brakes shake when slowing, acceleration is erratic. The problem is I could never trade this car in with an active recall and a known safety issue so I feel completely stuck. There is definitely something wrong. I would be in on some sort of larger lawsuit if someone knew how to get the ball rolling.

I found this when doing more research on the Atlas and the new parts and what the actually fix is. I did fill it out. I wonder if there is enough responses there would be one?

What do you mean it’s a fake fix??? We’ve been waiting for the harness for months….my brakes are terrible too!! They checked them twice for me and told my they are fine. I know they’re not. They squeak and are grinding!!!!! Only drove the car for 9 months. I can’t wait for them to take it back.
My understanding is that VW is replacing the door harness with the same malfunctioning part because they do not have a real fix to the problem yet. So basically I just got a “new” malfunctioning part when it was repaired but it has potential to cause the same problems again. It’s a joke. If you read the links that other posters have posted previously (about the recall) it mentions this in there.
Just an FYI, came across this today too. Looks like a class action law suit is in the works:

Thank you for sharing this. It’s a disgrace what VW has attempted to get away with, knowing all along about this faulty hazard.
I came across someone who was successful in VW buying back their car…receiving their down payment plus all their monthly payments back.

OMG!!!! But also how did the harness get fixed?? How long were you waiting for the part???
can you please share more info on the person who was able to get this reimbursement? I am also from NY and about to 30 days without the Atlas I loved! I was told today by Volkswagen Amityville that it would be months and that the part is manufactured in the Ukraine.
If you have NY lawyer info, I would love to have a lead on that too! Thank you!
