I finally got an enterprise rental paid for from dealer today after a month. Lemon law case has initiated. Will let you know what options are presented for settlement with Volkswagen. But I’d suggest reaching out to lemon law attorney now since your car has been out so long you should qualify, after researching a ton it seems that lemon law settlements give better options than regular settlement between customer and Volkswagen.

Another victim here! 21 atlas cross sport has been at dealer for a month now waiting on part. Was given a Taos for a loaner vehicle. Has anyone had any luck getting anything back on lease payments being made for a car that you don’t have?

Just had issues yesterday with my 2021 VW Altas Highline with only 9,500 kms on it. Drove home, put the car in reverse then it occurred. Dinging sound like the door was open, windows on the drivers side (both front and back) went down about 4 inches and auto start error message came up. They are currently making a “temporary” fix to the car until the part comes in (currently on back order with no known time frame). We will see how this temporary fix goes. Rather foolish that they haven’t put out a recall for this as it is a serious safety hazard. The service advisor said it could end up causing the ebrake to engage on its own like others have experienced. This is my first VW and it’s really making me question my choice.

I just filed a report with the US Highway Safety Dept. I encourage everyone to do the same so we can force a recall. The parking brake coming on when we drive is not safe. And I will not keep paying for a car I can’t drive.
I filed a report with transport Canada. Definitely not safe.

Just got off the phone with VW corporate. No solutions. No ETA. Nothing but a check-in call scheduled for 2 weeks from now. I have useless to me Jetta as a loner. They made it clear that they were under no obligation to even provide that to me. Acted as if they were doing me a favor. I assume I can't even start any Lemon Law paperwork until the 30 days out of service have passed. I just want to be as proactive about this as I can. I've never been more livid. Getting into another lease is going to be a nightmare.

Just picked up my car today after having it at the dealership since Nov. 15… a woman before me picked hers up today as well that was there since October. The dealership has 10 Atlas’ still waiting for the part. The issue- is that the current wiring harness is too short in all of the cars and mine was replaced today with a longer harness… (repair only was 1.5 hours) There is NO DOUBT this will be an recall once there are enough parts made and available to do it. (all the service guys said this) However - found out today that the number two generator of parts for VW is Ukraine. (number one Germany). I have three little kids- so I was in my moms car for a month while waiting for a loaner… then my dealership found me an atlas loaner which was great for a month… then I had to bring it back in because it was allegedly “illegal to be on the road” because the registration needed to be renewed…(??) anyways. I’ve been in a 2 door Hyundai from enterprise for the last 43 days- which was a joke- so my poor husband had to drive that crappy car so i could have his big car for the kids… So leaving this note to say- hang in there. (or don’t!) and good luck.

Did you make payments while you didn't have it? Curious as to how they are handling that.

I recently started receiving this error for no reason, just within 15 seconds within starting the vehicle while being parked at my driveway or even being stopped at a red light. After getting this error message and the constant beeping, the emergency brake turns on and the window from behind driver's door lowers like 5 inches from top. At this point, I cannot lower window and I cannot turn off emergency brake. So in order to reset, I have to turn off the engine then open behind driver door(where the window is lowered) and when closing it back I turn on engine. This makes the error go away, everything goes back to normal. So ODD but so annoying too. This has happened 3 times in the last 2 weeks. Don't know what triggers this. Anyone with similar issue?

I am having the exact same problem with my 2020 Atlas SE that has only 5k on the odometer. You are not alone with this issue as the service department at my dealership informs me that they have several other vehicles currently waiting for a replacement part and have repaired several others with the same problem. They inform me that the cause is a faulty wiring harness from engine compartment to the driver’s door. Unfortunately, I fear that your issue will get worse before it gets better. Mine started out as an intermittent problem then became more frequent until it was happening all the time. I took a video of the alerts popping up on the dash to show the service department. My Atlas has now been at the dealership since Feb 23rd with no end in sight due to a nationwide lack of the specific part. I spoke with the service manager and she suggested I call VW Customer Care to try to light a fire into the situation. They are assigning me an advocate. I have been given a new Tiguan to drive but that is not the car that I leased and am currently paying for. I am hoping that VW will make this right and if I don’t have my car back repaired in the near future, that they swap out my leased Atlas for a new one. I am also going to make an official report complaint on the NHTSA website.

Oh please, someone tell me I didn’t make a mistake buying my new 22Atlas SEL R line. Traveled 4 hours to get it bc my wife was super pleased with the room and looks. Drove it home, 250 miles on the odometer and now we’re getting an alarm saying the rear lift gate is open. An attempt was made by the out of town dealership to troubleshoot but nothing. Now we have an appointment next Friday, one week from now, at our local dealer to try and fix. Meanwhile we can either drive it with the annoying alarm or park it until they can get it in.

Just an update...called VW Customer Care few weeks ago. They were useless and didn't find me the part or get me in a rental. I called the dealer I bought my Atlas at which is kinda far away, but they had the part and got me right in to fix it!!! Hate to say it, but you may need to call around to all dealers in your area. We drove 1 hour and 30 min, but it is fixed and so far so good!! :) Shout out to Douglas VW in Summit, NJ for their quick turnaround!!!

They offered to buy back the car and give me $5800 check. I already settled with them for 8k earlier in the year with a lemon lawyer because the car was in the shop for more than 30 days. But the in the settlement i agreed i couldn't go the lemon route anymore.

My regional case manager just called stating that they have asked the dealership (cherry hill) to obtain a loaner from Enterprise- but they did not mention a limit to the daily rental cost. Supposedly dealer is supposed to be reaching out to enterprise, if I don’t hear anything back from dealer I will hear back from the Regional case manager Friday (2 business days). I have already contacted lemon law attorney and they have begun a case initiation. NJ state lemon law requires car to be in service without resolution for 20 days (since 2/8) so approaching the 20 day mark is when I will hear more from the attorney about options to request from VW. Let me know how you make out if you can.

I have the 2020 VW Atlas SEL and I had the same thing occur. In my situation both the driver and passenger side windows went down about 3 to 4 inches. The audible warnings went off and multiple dash warnings as well as Door ajard and Engine running displayed on dash. My car's been in the shop for over a month and never once called for a follow-up to see how long it would take for the service department to get back to me with at least a diagnosis. So here I am a month later, I finally get a phone call stating there waiting for parts. In the message they left they didn't tell me what they found or what part they are waiting for.
Sorry getting off on a tangent for lack of professionalism and customer service.
So apparently this was all caused by the door sensor but that part is on backorder. No ETA as of 2-20-22
I would be irate if I didn't have a loaner from the dealership but I often ask myself how upset I would be if I was still making payments on it.

My dealer just said the part is backordered, likely no fix until 2023, awesome. Also, out of loaners and Enterprise doesn’t have any rentals for loan, also awesom.

then I ask is it safe to drive? Yeah I think so… limited options here, going to suck for a couple of months. It’s aggravating for sure…
