What do they offer with the buyback? I have the email from VW corporate with the information to start the process. Wondering if it’s worth it. My 2021 Atlas I got in Feb 2021 has been a nightmare. Haven’t driven it in two months. It’s been at the dealership. I’m still making payments and they have no ETA for the harness. I HATE VW and they have done nothing to accommodate. I don’t even want the car fixed at this point. I want out and onto a new company altogether!!!! It’s completely unsafe to drive and they kept trying to convince me it is safe and I’m choosing not to drive it….they are the absolute worst!!!!
They offered to buy back the car and give me $5800 check. I already settled with them for 8k earlier in the year with a lemon lawyer because the car was in the shop for more than 30 days. But the in the settlement i agreed i couldn't go the lemon route anymore.

I am having the exact same problem with my 2020 Atlas SE that has only 5k on the odometer. You are not alone with this issue as the service department at my dealership informs me that they have several other vehicles currently waiting for a replacement part and have repaired several others with the same problem. They inform me that the cause is a faulty wiring harness from engine compartment to the driver’s door. Unfortunately, I fear that your issue will get worse before it gets better. Mine started out as an intermittent problem then became more frequent until it was happening all the time. I took a video of the alerts popping up on the dash to show the service department. My Atlas has now been at the dealership since Feb 23rd with no end in sight due to a nationwide lack of the specific part. I spoke with the service manager and she suggested I call VW Customer Care to try to light a fire into the situation. They are assigning me an advocate. I have been given a new Tiguan to drive but that is not the car that I leased and am currently paying for. I am hoping that VW will make this right and if I don’t have my car back repaired in the near future, that they swap out my leased Atlas for a new one. I am also going to make an official report complaint on the NHTSA website.
Hi there! I came across your comment because I am having the same issue!!! Did you get your car back? How did VW resolve your issue. Any advice is appreciated as I am now going on 3 months without my car. Thank you so much

Just chiming in to say I am also having the same problem and frustration with my 2021 atlas. It’s a joke and VW should be buying all these cars back. No parts available, it’s been almost 2 months and customer advocacy has been of no help. This is our primary car for our family of 6 and needless to say I have serious buyers remorse. I do think that engaging the emergency break at a light stop is definitely a safety issue. Shame on VW for not stepping up to the plate and dealing with this issue. They keep hiding behind the supply chain excuse. Well- how about a rental at their cost? They won’t even issue that. Very frustrating!!

2021 Atlas have had just over a year and having the same problem. Just out of the blue it started yesterday. I have an appointment next week but this sounds like a much bigger problem VW needs to address.
Good luck- the problem definitely gets worse over time and as far as I’m being told the parts to fix this problem are not available. I think we may start the buyback process but there’s no gaurentee that they will buy it back and it’s a ton of paperwork to deal with. I can’t believe there is no better way to hold them accountable. I am telling everyone I know to steer clear but the company should have to deal with this issue and not leave it on the consumer to figure out. Horrible business practices. This is definitely my first and last VW!

Just wanted to update everyone on my nightmare with Volkswagen. Dropped off my 2021 atlas sport January 10th, after calling dealership numerous times asking for information with no direct answers on when the piece will arrive or no loaner car available, opened a case with a case manger only to thank me for my patience that I don’t have

and writing emails to Daniel executive specialist for Volkswagen the only information that I have is that the door harness will be available in 3 WEEKS from the 19th and maybe after 2 weeks of no loaner car I might get a call from the dealership gee thanks! Still paying for a car I dont Have

Well, after more than 2 months my new Door Harness has finally arrived at my dealership. Ever since mid November VW has been telling me 'just two more weeks and it should be here.' While it was frustrating it did eventually arrive. Something that ended up helping me was asking the dealership to call their distribution center and find out where in the queue I was for deliveries on that part. I was able to find out which bulk delivery mine was part of and was able to check in on that for the last few weeks. I'm just really hoping I don't run into issues with the new one....

Throwing our situation in the ring.

Same errors as described above. 2020 Atlas Cross Spot, 9000 KM. Dropped car off at South Centre VW in Calgary on November 16. Thought they would get the part mid December, and now still no ETA. VW Canada customer care is absolutely no help. They've simply indicated they are in 'daily contact with the dealer'...I could do that.

I'm considering escalating as per this website: Recourse for vehicle defects - Office of Consumer Affairs

I feel so darn sad. This was the first brand new car we ever bought. We have been VW brand loyalists for a decade. Will never buy another one again if this is how they handle their customers.

Same !

Purchased my New 2020 Atlas Cross around October 2020, same issue started about a couple months later. Brought it to VW in italy who did a diagnostic and reset the computer. Was good for several months, then came back with a vengeance. VW replaced the part, after having the vehicle for a week. Worked fine for several months, and came back AGAIN…. Have brought it to VW several times since, and was told yesterday that “they don’t know what’s causing the error.” We love our vehicle, but going to work with the dealer to possibly replace the whole vehicle. I don’t know what else to do.

I have the same model as you in white. I was told weeks! December 8th sounds good!! Best of luck!
Any new news? We are still driving a rental from Enterprise as our brand new Atlas sits on the parking lot at the dealership waiting for the part. Btw, I asked the representative at Enterprise if they are having a lot of customer come over from the dealership for the same issue…..she said “yes, hundreds!” So frustrating! We will never buy another VW.

Hi. VW left me a voicemail on 1/28 saying the part is expected to come in between Feb 7 and Feb 25. They said they’d follow up with that information on 2/4 but never did. My car has been sitting at the dealership for months. And I am with you…never getting a VW again. I wish I could get rid of it now.

I recently started receiving this error for no reason, just within 15 seconds within starting the vehicle while being parked at my driveway or even being stopped at a red light. After getting this error message and the constant beeping, the emergency brake turns on and the window from behind driver's door lowers like 5 inches from top. At this point, I cannot lower window and I cannot turn off emergency brake. So in order to reset, I have to turn off the engine then open behind driver door(where the window is lowered) and when closing it back I turn on engine. This makes the error go away, everything goes back to normal. So ODD but so annoying too. This has happened 3 times in the last 2 weeks. Don't know what triggers this. Anyone with similar issue?
Hello! Found this Forum looking for answers as to when I'll get my car back! While I didn't purchase my vehicle new, I only did purchase it about 5 months ago and started having the same problems as everyone else. Dealership said it wasn't safe to drive and set me up in a rental car that either VW or they are paying for, also said it would be a minimum of 2-3 months before the part would be in and even then they doubt it will be that soon. I'm with everyone else on this issue.....why am I paying a hefty monthly car payment for something I can't even drive!! There were a lot of good points on this Forum and calling VW is what I'll be doing ASAP! The one thing I don't think I did read was anyone getting their car back - have they? Or has VW supplied them a newer version of their vehicle? It seems we all love the Cross Sport and if they wanted to continue to keep us as VW customers they would go out of their way to right this issue......just my two cents tho.

We are still waiting on the part despite our efforts to push the issue along. It’s been almost three months which is maddening. How did everyone get VW to provide a rental? We live in Massachusetts and both our dealership (VW wellsley) and the advocate said they won’t provide! We decided to push forward with the buyback process but not sure if it will be approved or what they will offer, so waiting to hear back. But this is honestly criminal!

I had intermittent issues with my 2021 VW Atlas Cross Sport since about 2 months ago. This involved the windows going down on the drivers side by themselves, several flashing lights on the dash board indicating “Driver Door Contact Switch”, “Attention: Engine is Running”, “Fault Electronic Parking Brake”, and the Emergency Brake automatically engaging while driving. On 2/7/2022, these erratic symptoms occurred 3 times in the span of 25 minutes

I leased a 2021 VW Atlas on 5/31/2021. Beginning in about December 2021, the vehicle began showing the following erratic and intermittent issues: The driver side windows going up and down on their own, these flashing messages/ beeping “Error: Driver Door Contact Switch”, “Attention:Engine is Running”, “Fault Electronic Brake”, and the Emergency Brake automatically engaging itself while driving. On 2/7/2022, these issues happened 3 times over the span of 25 minutes, including coming to a screeching halt via emergency brake engagement while traveling approximately 40mph. A car behind me quickly hit his brakes but made a point to come next to my vehicle to tell me that he was inches away from wrecking the back of my vehicle. I needed to turn my hazards on, place the car in park, turn the car off and on, on a busy Route 130, before being able to move a few hundred yards for it to happen twice more. I called VW Cherry Hill NJ on 2/8/2022 and advised them that my car is unable to be driven due to safety concerns. Since I was less than a mile away, I drove my vehicle to the dealership as a drop off. I returned at 830 AM on 2/8/2022 and spoke with a Service Advisor who quickly told me, after I described the issues and showed pictures and video of the error messages, that this is a “well-known problem” and that it is a Recall for a “Driver Wiring Harness”. He further advised that the part is on back order and has been for several months, while further explaining that there are 7 vehicles in the back waiting for the part. I asked about assistance with a loaner since my car was understandably unsafe to drive, but was advised that there were no available loaners. I was advised that other vehicle owners with this issue have opted to continue operating their vehicles despite the safety issues as they were unable to obtain a loaner. I was then directed to my purchase dealer, VW Salem, where I spoke with the service manager Ed (whom was very polite and responsive) however, was met with the same results- no parts in sight and no loaners available. I also contacted Prestige VW Turnersvile- again with the same response. I left my vehicle parked at VW Cherry Hill and got a ride from a coworker to work. I contacted VW customer care where I was told that my case would be escalated and I would hear a response within 4 business days (the following Monday). I now await a response from VW Corporate Care regarding an ETA for repair parts and a loaner vehicle. I have searched and see no recall for this vehicle on any databases. This is clearly a well-known issue to VW as there appear to be hundreds of complaints nationwide online from what I have read and acknowledgment from 3 VW service centers in South Jersey alone.

I will await VW corporates response, however, I plan to contact NJ Lemon Law in addition to request a buy back option and settlement from VW.

Im sorry to hear you are experiencing the same problems as so many others. I wish I could say that the customer care advocates were helpful to me. They have done nothing to resolve the issue in terms of providing a loaner or rental. I have no choice but to drive the car and I have have safety concerns every time I do. I hope you have better luck getting a loaner or rental than we did. We are terribly disappointed by VW and their lack of addressing this very serious safety issue.

Finally got my Atlas back today after 77 days at the dealership. Harness and door module replaced along with leaking fuel injector, coil and spark plug and a bunch of seals. Shifting mechanism was replaced also due to tightness. They changed the oil due to fuel leakage and changed cabin air filter. Also recall for hose leaking on air bag module was completed. Feel good to be back in the V6. I hate 4 cylinder turbos. It was **** going through this process but the dealership VW Nanuet gave me a loaner cross sport for the whole time and tried there best. VW corporate worked with me and made it right. But the VW needs to do a full recall for this wire harness.
