I have had the same issue on my T-Cross (2020).
It occured after disconnecting the plug over the heater/climatic(manual airco).
The dash prompted an arbag warning and SOS emergency system (e-call) error.
This was very quickly reset by dealer (with VAG.com equipment) no defective module and at no costs..
A wise leason: dont disconnect the buttons over the airco module.
Fix : Just make a an SOS call and annulate it by pressing same button. Or have SOS status removed by call center because repressing button not always works. Then use the reset/power button on your MMI , press it a number of secs to reset the MMI and have your Navi, phone menu and radio restored. Pointless to have modules various times exchanged, probably accidentally might solve problem for a (short) while. Error most probably in firmware awaiting an update. Meanwhile use the 5 minute fix like others do. All recent models of VAG suffer the problem.

Luckily I follow this guy for A3 problems and I've just tried his trick and I'm back in.. such a simple fix. Just hold down the SOS button until a call starts and then just cancel the call once it does. Resets the MMI and SOS code and you're back in on the infotainment! Think this will help across all VW group cars
Worked for me on Seat Ibiza 2021. :)

I have the same issue with my 2022 Atlas I had a Q 7 before this car and had a lot of issues with that one either until it reached 100000 k on board and the engine took a crap on me. Nobody from the dealer didn’t know or wanted to do anything about it. Very disappointed in these cars. I should’ve went with a different brant. By the looks of it the so called German cars are not so German after all( made in all these low pay countries that don’t know the right from left)

I'm unfortunately having the same issue with my 2021 SEL. The day after I drove it off the lot I was dealling with this SOS issue. It happened while I was on the way back to the dealership to bring them my trade-in's owners manual, if you can call that a plus. I was told they then addressed it by pulling the fuse, which apparently refresh/reboots the module and then sent me on my way. Brought it home and the very next day it's on again, not happy and they know it. I was told they have the module in stock, so hopefully replacing it will fix the issue, if they ever call me back. I will let you know...
I’m having the same problem and they gave me an estimate for $900+ dollars to replace the module because they couldn’t reset it.

Just took my car in for the same reason. The service guy said the SOS Module needed to be replaced for $1200 and my warranty ran out $2K miles ago. I'm not very happy with this at all! So many people with the same problem. I asked the guy, how does this module go out? It can't be a matter of wear and tear. His answer was...it just happens.

I’m having this same issue, had to pay $180 for diagnosis and told that it’s $1200 to replace the module! If everyone is having this problem and it’s a so called KNOWN ISSUE, then why hasn’t there been a recall for the system??? Why are we being charged all this money for something that apparently is a manufacturers mishap? How do we address getting this system recalled?? Anyone???

Control module replaced by dealer. No problems since. Make sure you have both keys with the car, as they’ll need to be reprogrammed with the module. My dealer didn’t know, so I had to make a separate trip to get the second key fixed. Peace!
Thanks for the tip on bringing both fobs with you to dealer.

2020 ATLAS - I am now having this issue too and VW quoted $1,200+ to replace the SOS Module. 2K out of warranty and annoyed. I believe the warning sign came on after I added the so-called 5-year free safe and secure app. But it may just be a coincidence. They cannot reset the warning so the module has to be replaced. Same as most of everyone's post - they do not know why it happened. It is still safe to drive the car though. I am doing more research before I get it replaced.

I had the exact same issue. Added the 5 year free safety plan and the SOS light came on. I deleted my car from the garage on the VW app. And then reinstalled it. Pull up your information and copy your VIN to save you a lot of time. Remove from the garage and then add it back. It was not immediate fix. It took one business day and then the error was gone.

Did not work for my 2020 CS. I reached the emergency call center and requested to cancel the call. No change. I think I like the idea of trying to delete the MYVW account and re-enroll. Doubt there's anything wrong with the telematics unit. Maybe just not connecting with right parameters and throws the red light. May wait until all my freebies expire. Hate to lose them.

I'm going to try that. None of the other methods I have seen worked. Fingers crossed.🤞

I tried what you did and deleted my CS from the VW app garage. Was a little hesitant as it said it was also going to cancel all my subscriptions. I did it anyway. I re-enrolled. It was a little clunky on the re-enroll as it already it had some of my info. I added my Vin # and started the car to authenticate owner. You cant enter the 8 digit code until you delete yourself as the main user from the radio. GoTo: settings/carnet/registration delete yourself as main user and you can add yourself back as new. Then it will ask for the 8 digit authentication code from the VW app. Your done. Seems like my subscriptions are all intact. All my settings seemed to remain as well. The SOS went out and light turned green again. Saved me $1200. WIN 🏆 Thanks Ngunn awesome post

Same thing here. $900+ to replace the module. Three months after the warranty expired!!!
Mine did same thing just after warranty but think that was just coincidence. I think that VW is just covering a myriad of possibilities by replacing the module. When Ngunn posted his fix it just made sense. Maybe something got corrupted in my registration and was a software issue. I had nothing to lose. I unregistered and registered my CS back into the myVW site and the green light came back. That was back in July. Has been green ever since. Sorry you had to pay for it but maybe you had a different issue. If it happens again, try this first before taking to the dealer.

Same problem here.. similarly about 3 months after my warranty expired (june 2024 exp) - I got the SOS light turning red, and the SOS error on the driver's dash.
I just tried the remove car from garage, and re-add.
The Red light on the overhead SOS button immediately turned off.
The error on the dash is still there. I'll wait a day, and let you know if it goes away. :) I remain hopeful!

Laet Update: 1 day later and the dash error is gone!

So yeah, remove the Vehicle from the "MyVw" app garage... worked! :)
