Here’s a video of the two headlights in comparison. I hope this clears all the headlight questions. It’s indeed depending on the trim level.

It is completely dependent on the trim level. ONLY the SEL trim levels has both lit up. The headlights on the SE's are exactly the same but there is something in the software that needs to be switch and the VW will not release that info to the dealership (or atleast to the dealership that I go to)

Heads are completely different. Even have different part numbers. The SEL and SEL Premium have higher output LED lights in both lows and highs, they auto level, and they turn the beams around corners as you steer(not just the outer fog lights turning on). They also get the double hockey stick as it's known day time running lights.

You can't code or trick around this. They are different.

Video above pretty much sums it up. I think it's pretty funny that the dealer just assumed it was the headlights and ordered new ones without any research as to why both headlights would be faulty. SMH!!

Any updates on how to overcome or fix this? Really want the double L's ...how can i get them? any links to anything? do i need to order new double L headlights? ect

There is no "FIX" for this. It's completely 2 different headlights for the SE and higher up SEL trims. I guess you can always trade the SE in for a SEL or Premium trim.
