I had the nav/phone issues since May 2023. In June, I took my 2020 Atlas CS SEL Premium to the dealer in Minneapolis and after a couple of days they informed me that I needed a new "Car-Net Module". It is on backorder with no ETA available, this is from VW's Customer Care department. The parts manager told me that most of these modules are sourced in Ukraine, hence don't hold your breath for one.

We returned to Tucson, AZ this fall (we are snowbirds), and needed an oil change. While at our selling dealer getting the oil changed, I let them know about our Nav/phone issues, expecting the same diagnosis. They wanted to keep the car for a day or two to see what their guys could do. 48 hours later, everything is all sorted and everything works! They rebooted/reprogrammed the offending module and discovered a marginally adequate battery that they thought compromised the module from booting up properly. Whatever, these guys here in Tucson went the extra mile and truly diagnosed the real problem and causes and fixed it. Hopefully, it continues to function. We shall see.

PS - the battery was out of warranty by a few miles (naturally), so I had to buy a new one. However they gave me a deal and I am a happy camper.

I have a 2020 VW Atlas Sport and it’s doing the exact same thing with my apple phone plugged in! Nav shows me about 1/4 mile off where I’m actually located. Tried using on board nav with the same result. Very discouraging finding out about the CarPlay system!! will have to add my car to the dealers list of needed replacement parts!

You are lucky.. dealership and corp ran us around for 7 months.. finally after talking with an attorney they conveniently took the car back for 2024.. thanks to GM at dealership.. no issues! This is our family’s 5 atlas and do like the new 4 cylinder with great long travel mileage!

I have a problem with navigation. My location is not determined correctly, the route is constantly being reroute. vw atlas cs 2020 sel premium. This happens with regular navigation and with Google / Apple maps when connected via wire. The problem is 100% with the car. Took it to the dealer (Washington). They said it was a big problem and VW didn't know how to fix it. I'll call customer care. does anyone have the same problem?
Same problem here, I have Atlas 2022 SEL R. Also when I connect my phone to CarPlay, it also start acting like the car navigation. My only option is to have my phone not connected to the car and use the gps like that. Meaning no streaming music thru the car. So I have a car with useless system. 🤦🏽‍♂️
Also the APP do not update the vehicle location nor can start the car using the app anymore.

I’m having the same issue! Also, dynamic sign display goes offline because it has no idea where the car is traveling!

I had a 2024 Atlas Cross Sport and the navigation system was one of several problems. Several trips to the dealership never resolved the problem. Notice I said I HAD an Atlas. Finally got tired of taking the car in for repairs. Less than 1600 miles in 4 months with the car being drive worthy only two days.

So, in typical Dealer fashion... they took all day (8-4) to tell me the Radio/Nav/Electronic head unit needs to be replaced to fix my issue. Surprise... It's on back order! I'm hoping when the unit is replaced, all will be good! I'll update when there's more to report.
Seems like they don’t do any researches, my case they end up telling me.. “everything is good, we just updated the software”.

on my drive back to the house, the gps started to acting up again. SMH

I have the same problem with my 2021 Atlas SEL. It will also affect my CarPlay when I have my phone plugged in. It’s gotten me lost more times than not and is unsafe. I called my local VW and they act like they don’t know what I’m talking about and offer to check it out for $200 diagnosis fee. It needs to be recalled.

Isn't Car Net a 3G platform, thus obsolete?

My car play using my iPhone nav works great. I never plug the phone in, just Bluetooth connection and charge it in the console tray when needed. 2021 ACS w/technology. Did 1 OTA software update shortly after purchasing car.

It appears Car Net feature cars are the ones having the issues.

Same with mine. They quoted the TSB, did the install of the software update and still not working correctly, although not 150 miles from my location as it was prior to the update.
