I understand your frustration, but it does seem like Verizon's changes solved the problem in some parts of the country. I have had zero issues with location in two of my VW cars in recent weeks, and I used to experience many such issues. I am in the San Francisco Bay Area. Verizon might be slower to update in your neck of the woods.
Likewise, my location via Apple Maps has been spot on since sometime in July. Verizon may be rolling this fix out regionally. Knock on wood!

I called VW customer service twice and both times they stated that the Verizon updates were completed nationwide on 8/30/24. I call BS. Mine still has same issue since February. I am visiting the dealer Friday. Wish me luck.

Thankfully adding a Bluetooth adapter fixed the Apple Maps issue and fixed the other issue. Spending $15 on that was the best decision I ever made. Problems with car navigation are not solved by it anymore
Bluetooth adapter? Doesn't the Atlas have built in bluetooth? Or have you done something else?

Thanks. I added a Bluetooth adapter and that solved the Apple Maps problem among other issues. It was the best $20 I ever spent. That did not solve the in car navigation issue.
You're one of the several people that mentions a bluetooth adapter. No one seems to explain why you've done this, since the Atlas already has Bluetooth. Am I missing something? Can you explain what you did?

I have had this issue on my 2020 Atlas Cross Sport SEL R line

I was having the issue with me driving in the sound or over mountains according to the maps on my car and also on my phone when it was plugged in to the car. Recently the usb plugs in front have been broken physically, it seems it had been coming forr awhile. I purchased a replacement USB hub and installed. BOOM ... both my phone and my car navigation work with no issues. I would have never replaced the usb but it had become unusable for even charging.

The interesting thing is i used to have to unplug my phone from car in order to get maps to work right...

Anyhow this seems to be the root cause. The usb plugs in front cubby need to be replace. 140 dollars and i put it in myself

I’ll try to map somewhere today and see if it’s still happening. I’ll look I into replacing them if so! Thanks for the help. It’s been pretty frustrating

Let me know if you change and it works. I have been confounded by this for nearly a year so i was pleasantly surprised. I work in the wireless industry at a device OEM as a location systems engineer and this issue It did not make any sense but this USB failing..slowly kind of maps out. Crazy stuff

Thank you. After adding a Bluetooth adapter, the Apple Maps problem and other issues were resolved. Spending $20 on that was the greatest decision I've ever made.
I was able to use again after replacing the USB port in front cubby. It seems the USB ports go bad slowly, and not sure why it affects the phone as well but a replacement for 140 dollars done by myself fixed it entirely. I have been using for nearly two weeks now. This has been the most frustrating thing ever.

Is anyone still having issues? I just bought a 2024 Cross Sport and have no navigation, no SOS, road sign displays etc.. my VW dealership is still saying Verizion. It is kinda pissing me off because even when I use my phone, I can't use the navigation because it puts me in the middle of nowhere even on my phone!!!!

I had that issue with my 2020 . It started not working part of the time (nav) but eventually was permanent. At same time my front usb ports went bad as we had pushed to hard. I changed out my usb hub (140 dollars) and it works perfectly now for over a month.

So you're experiencing the same issue in a 2024 model? I ask b/c I've had issues with my 21 and they're trying to sell me a 2025...am I literally going to still have the same issue??

Verizon has nothing to do with SOS, road sign display, etc. it only relates to navigation. Your dealer does not understand the technology.
