Good morning all!


Just shy of 2 months ago we ordered an Atlas 2.0 SE, FWD, w/tech and captains second row from a dealer in Illinois. The dealer originally said it would take around 2 months to deliver. Before purchasing, I had asked a Missouri dealer and they expected 3 months on an order. By the looks of what people are saying online, I'm a little nervous about it even being delivered in 3 months. My questions to you all are:


1. Do you ever get any info from the dealer on where it is at in the process? Build date, Delivery date, vehicle has been ordered verification? Any time I ask the dealer they have no information and I don't want to keep pestering.
2. Is the 2-3 months window a typical wait time?


I hope everyone is enjoying their Atlas because we are excited to join the club.

It varies from brand to brand, but some do offer a way to check on their vehicles build status online. So long as there aren't any manufacturing issues, 3 months is a typical time frame.

Update: We received a call from the dealership stating Volkswagen e-mailed a build date of August 6th. So here is the time line so far.


-Ordered with $1000 deposit on 5-23-2018
-Received call on 7-27-2018 notifying a build date of 8-6-2018


My first time ordering a vehicle but it just seems crazy that manufactures aren't able to provide consumers with a more fluid timeline of the process. Oh well it will get here soon. I believe the dealership said once the vehicle is built they receive it pretty quickly.

Me either...so I bought one that had running boards & 4Motion that I didn't intend on having, but it cut down the wait time.

Update: We finally got the call to come pick it up on 9-20-18. 3 days short of taking 4 months to get it. Not sure I will deal with Volkswagen again.

I am having the same problem. I call the salesman about ever three weeks or so. I just talked to him today(12/29/2021), and he stated that he could not see any movement on my order that was placed on the 11th of November. I will await his response tomorrow after he checks with his GM. This process is being held up because of the chips that goes in the vehicle. This is a great vehicle, you will fall in love with the driving and bell and whistles.
