I have a problem with navigation. My location is not determined correctly, the route is constantly being reroute. vw atlas cs 2020 sel premium. This happens with regular navigation and with Google / Apple maps when connected via wire. The problem is 100% with the car. Took it to the dealer (Washington). They said it was a big problem and VW didn't know how to fix it. I'll call customer care. does anyone have the same problem?

My 2020 VW Atlas navigation from Google maps, Android A13 works fine. On the bottom left margin is the compass direction indicator that you can change, have North face up. However the compass behind the steering wheel didn't change, still wrong. Since it is displaying and changes you know the compass is reading but there is a code error unless the compass sensor to the bus has two wires swapped. Vehicle selection, scroll down to see all the software and who wrote each application. Tells you to go to the dealer to use "SSL Tool box" to change the code. There has to be a code error for the compass if not in the wiring.

Same problem here. I'm in Minnesota and the nav thinks I'm in the middle of Idaho! I'm waiting for the currently backordered CarNet module, over 2 months now. Called Customer Care and they have no ETA on the module. I chatted with my dealer parts guy recently and he says a good portion of those modules are sourced from Ukraine. Uff Da! We may never see those parts. Thanks, Putin.

I've had mine 2 days, days days to learn everything about this car! Finally scrolled down in vehicle to see reset and software upload. I don't know what CarNet is. I saw the three options to use Android, I something and another option. Since i have the A13 and A15 Cell if just used google map to navigate, worked fine. Compass wrong behind the steering wheel, so changed the display to show the speedometer instead which is far more useful.

IDK if all years or models are OTA capable for updates but my 21.5 is. I have only gotten I software update notice since owning the car which was not long after I bought it. The download went well as did the install, but it did take a while.

My NAV however is from my iPhone MAP APP the car uses.

IIRC VW offered their NAV as a different "Technology" package which I did not get. I remember the sales guy saying at the time you don't want the Car Net version. I never activated the Car Net help feature as I did not want to pay for that subscription and IIRC it went dead when 5G came out anyway.

I have same issue here in TN, started about 10 days ago. I trouble shot it from different phones, different cell providers all comes back to the VW Atlas itself. We just relocated to TN and I am constitutionally getting lost.

VW Cross Sport Owner. The problem with the CarNet module going out is that it controls navigation, voice and remote functions as well as the microphone. You can plug your phone in to use it's Navigation but don't try to have a phone conversation because the other person can't hear you (microphone required). I have circumvented by using my phone on speaker in the car. VW dealer tells me the CarNet module could be on backorder for a year. So excited to own a car with 12,000 miles that is electronically dead. Just give me the manual crank for my windows and the entire car's electronics will match.

I was out of town in a unfamilar location and this was driving me crazy. i finally disconnected my phone from CarPlay and it worked ok. suboptimal but better than being totally lost. yep i should have known where i was going but we all get used to tech and when it fails, its not pretty!!

recently, i tried CarPlay and Waze and that displayed just fine of my infotainment screen. still not what i purchased but i can get by with that until i get that part.

i also had a weird thing where the car reset the trip and mileage since refueled--which i dont know why it did it but it did. more undocumented features!!

stay safe

I have this EXACT problem too. Have you found a solution yet?

I had the nav/phone issues since May 2023. In June, I took my 2020 Atlas CS SEL Premium to the dealer in Minneapolis and after a couple of days they informed me that I needed a new "Car-Net Module". It is on backorder with no ETA available, this is from VW's Customer Care department. The parts manager told me that most of these modules are sourced in Ukraine, hence don't hold your breath for one.

We returned to Tucson, AZ this fall (we are snowbirds), and needed an oil change. While at our selling dealer getting the oil changed, I let them know about our Nav/phone issues, expecting the same diagnosis. They wanted to keep the car for a day or two to see what their guys could do. 48 hours later, everything is all sorted and everything works! They rebooted/reprogrammed the offending module and discovered a marginally adequate battery that they thought compromised the module from booting up properly. Whatever, these guys here in Tucson went the extra mile and truly diagnosed the real problem and causes and fixed it. Hopefully, it continues to function. We shall see.

PS - the battery was out of warranty by a few miles (naturally), so I had to buy a new one. However they gave me a deal and I am a happy camper.
