Ordered Atlas SEL Premium - got a good discount

Bargaining for Atlas SEL Premium was really hard, checked over multiple states for a good discount including True Car, Costco Auto Program and some other services. Finally the first dealership I went near my local area did wonders for me and I booked one on Friday. Waiting for it to get delivered (4-6 weeks).

Do your best folks to get a discount and you will get one for sure as long as you hit the right dealership. Others are too adamant not to give more than $500-$1000.

You tried contacting dealerships in other States? That's dedication to getting a good deal. how much of a discount were you able to get?
Yes, contacting neighboring states gave me a better idea about how much dealers are willing to negotiate or discount on this new vehicle. I got a selling price of somewhere around invoice price & with a condition to wait for 4-6 weeks.

Not bad at all but I bet if this was Audi or some other car maker known for making SUV's along with leading with the segments, we would be paying a premium instead. Lucky for us VW needs us more here then we need them :D

Should have tried to get some accessories thrown in for free ;)

I ordered 8/26 and was told 4-12 weeks. Car is still in "Waitlist" status according to the dealership and it will be 4 weeks this Saturday... So not sure how fast this will go. I'm on a call list at a few dealerships if they get one dropped off at their dealership that isn't assigned to anyone. This wait is horrible! The dealer I have it ordered has quoted me $2500 in discounts. So that's pretty darn good, but if I wait 12 full weeks (if not more!) My trade in could be worth $2500 less by then the way used car sales are going!
That's a good discount. I was promised a 6 week delivery period and now dealer is saying it might take 12 weeks. I am in similar situation driving 500 miles local/week to drop my family members at multiple places. There are not much Premium around. Good luck for your delivery.
Not sure if I lucked out buying the last week of the year or not, but I was able to get the dealer to take $4,300 off an SEL premium that was recently transferred in from another state. They ended up nearly recouping their discount after I added the R Line wheels and running boards though. My primary negotiating tactic was using print outs from USAA’s car buying services which leverages True Car. Again, not sure if this is typical or not, but wanted to pass my experience along especially if it can help save folks here some $$$.
What prices did you guys pay for your SEL premiums? I've been checking Midwest states, and best I can find is $47,500 from an IL dealership. Saw $48,500 from a Seattle dealership.
Picked up a SEL premium yesterday in Huntsville, AL for $46,500. Best discount I've found. They had maybe 10 on the lot. Told me someone was on their way down from Wisconsin for a black one they had. Huntsville is about an hour from Chattanooga so maybe proximity to the factory helps.

Thanks for this. I just found their website, and they show they have one premium left, in black, and it's listed for $47,010. Did you qualify for anything else to get it lower? Or negotiated it down?
Is there still a relative "shortage" of SEL Premiums, such that discounts are limited? TrueCar is showing a much smaller discount on the SEL Premium vs. other trims, and my local dealer said something along the lines of the SEL Premium having tighter inventory and thus lower discounts.

SEL 4Motion vs. SEL Premium is a difference of $5800 in MSRP, but it seems to be well over $8000 in practice... Anyone having better luck with the Premium? Any sense on whether inventory will loosen up?

Ordering a Atlas SEL Prem.

If I ordered a Atlas in a week or so will I be able to get a 2019 Model?
Dealer ordered my 2018 Atlas SEL Premium AWD in January with no commitment on my part to buy it. He said if I didn't want it when it came in they'd find another buyer. I also asked for a 2nd row bench and the Black 20" wheels. Took about 6 mos to get here in So Cal. They wanted MSRP once it arrived. Claimed that due to demand they were selling them for over MSRP. I dragged my feet and suggested I might walk.
We settled on $500 over invoice. Since it was a custom order I was good with that. They took my 2009 CC on trade as well. Very happy with my purchase!

What exactly is the invoice price for an SEL premium?

The invoice I was shown was $48137. MSRP was $58050
Dealer Invoice broken out as follows:
3.6L V6 SEL Prem 4 Motion AWD $46,742
Chrome Rear Bumper Applique, $118
20" Black Wheels, $202
Destination, $925
Local Marketing Assessment, $150
MSRP was $58050
Oops...typo. MSRP s/b $50050
I figured it was around 48k, which I'm wondering how someone further up in this thread page claims he was able to get one for 45k, with an MSRP of 50k. I think it's a no brainer at that price but wondering how to approach an offer like that.
