Hi there.

Anyone use a hitch-mounted motorcycle carrier on an Atlas? I have the 6 cylinder with a tongue weight maximum of 500 lb.

The bike is less than 300 lb, and the carrier is about 50 lb. I am under the tongue weight, but that weight is suspended in the air as compared to being pulled behind. Not sure if that makes a difference.

I am fine with adding air bags if it sags, but just don't know how well it will handle the carrier.

Any experience out there?

Thanks!

Did you ever pull the trigger on this? I have the same question.
Not yet, sorry. I was hoping to find some real-world experience with a carrier and I haven't found any yet. If I here any, I will post it here (please do the same).

I gave it a try yesterday with my old XR250 that weighs around 275 pounds. Drove about 30 miles in suburban Chicago including a little freeway. Worked fine. Changes the handling a little and I would get airbags if I thought I would do this very often or for long distances. Normally I have at least two motorcycles so I need a trailer.

That is the exact information I am looking for. Thanks!

I plan on using it just for short hops, so I just may try one out.

Thanks again.

Bought another used moped and brought it home on the hitch rack. Larry in the photo helped me load it up.
I have 3 kids in college in case anyone is wondering why I need more than one moped.
