Greetings all, I have a 2021 VW Atlas Cross Sport SEL 3.6L 4 Motion. My wife and I are having a different A/C issue than what most are posting. Our A/C acts like the compressor clutch kicks out on its own. We have had this happen in all different driving conditions and it's definitely not related to the auto-start system. You can feel the A/C working, then suddenly you can feel the air get more humid and the temp starts increasing immediately. Sometimes it will solve itself within a minute or so, other times you have to turn the A/C button off, then back on. It seems to happen less when the Auto A/C setting is on. It's been in the dealer a couple times now, and they have yet to find anything. It seems like there is a sensor giving erroneous readings to me. We drove up to Vegas during the middle of the summer last year, and half the drive the A/C was kicking on and off. We live in Arizona, so we really need this to work properly once the heat comes in within the next 3 months. Has anyone had a similar issue, and what did the dealer do to fix it?

We're getting to the point that this thing is getting traded in for something else.

Have you had the dealer look at it? Sounds like the refrigerant is low.
Yes, it's been in a couple times, and we have an appointment for it to be looked at...again...

I'd think it was the refrigerant is low as well. Each time it's been in they say they've evacuated the system and checked for leaks but can't find anything. This acts like there's a sensor in the Auto A/C circuit that is malfunctioning and sending signals when it shouldn't be. However, I don't know if that's it or not. It's super intermittent so the dealer always says they can't recreate the issue. If they can't fix it this time I'm sure the wife will force me to trade this thing in. We traded our Mercedes in for this, so the wife has pretty high expectations on the vehicle.

You guys are scaring me! We have two Atlases in our family and no issues yet (going back two years) and no issues except one rear door speaker that will be changed under warranty. (2021) and 2022 models...
Don't be scared.... We bought our vehicle with 12,000 miles on the odometer in March 2022. We noticed the A/C issues right off the bat. I'm guessing that's why it was available to begin with. So this isn't new, but if the dealer can't figure it out, we won't live with this issue. If you haven't had an issue yet, I'm guessing you are good. Most issues relate to low/leaking refrigerant.
