Tanner Foust, professional racing driver and former Top Gear host, has been working with LGE CTS Motorsport to create a custom Atlas since October and now the rally ready LGE CTS VW Atlas has made its first appearance at the SEMA Show.
That dirt speckled piece of machinery was captured by
CarScoops and it’s far from the three-row family hauler we’ve become accustomed to. Perhaps the most notable difference between the factory spec crossover and this modified Atlas is the increase in ground clearance, mainly achieved through a suspension system overhaul. A set of off-road wheels and tires were also installed, complete with a set of bolt-on flared wheel arches.
Of course what’s an off-road ready vehicle without a sturdy bumper setup? The factory front bumper has been replaced by a steel skid plate. Other modifications include a roof cargo basket for all your weekend getaway needs and a ladder mounted to the hatch to reach said basket.
Other information about the vehicle’s performance and any engine modifications it may have undergone remains a mystery. We do not yet know if Tanner Faust has any plans for this vehicle, though we wouldn’t be opposed to seeing him put the modded Atlas through its paces.
