Hi everyone - my wife and I found the exact car we wanted (white exterior, all beige interior, SEL + 2.0 engine) at a dealer in St. Louis (we live in Florida).

However, the sales guy said there was a stop sale order for the Atlas and they weren't being allowed to sell any due to a recall. Today is 6/20 and we put a deposit down to hold the car on 6/11. Since we did that the dealer said they have not gotten any updates from VW on when the stop sale will end and when I will be able to buy the car.

Has anyone else heard of this or experienced this? I'm doing my due diligence to make sure we aren't being strung out by the dealer and they're trying to sell the car for a higher price to someone who lives closer.

Thanks!

yes we experienced the same thing. Certain VINS are impacted by the recall and those cannot be sold until there is a way forward. Our dealer told us that for now all VW is saying is that it's brake related but have not yet communicated a fix or way forward. Not all new Atlases out there are impacted by the recall though.

A recall on 2018 Atlas vehicles that began on June 29th is preventing sales. This recall involves the second row seat belt buckles and child car seats. There is no ETA on when parts will be available. Until parts are available, sales are stopped, so on top of the gas tank or any other recalls, this could be preventing the sale of the Atlas you want.
