Driver Side Rattle/Noises

Rattles / unexplained noises bug me. Bought my Atlas Nov. 2017. Wondering if others hear what sounds like wires/cables rubbing against something forward of driver seat to left. Sound is intermittent - usually at start up, can go away for a while, then resume, on smooth or bumpy surfaces. I looked under hood/inside wheel well but no luck. It's not loud or metal on metal but obvious. Thanks for any feedback JT.

don't think anyone else has mentioned this. Forward of driver seat to left you say? Around the door area or somewhere else?

figgsey76, any progress on this rattle? I have a rattle/ clunking sound on my front end passenger side. Someone here mentioned a service campaign on tightening noisy front joint rod nuts. Let me know if you think that's it and if you make any progress in getting it fixed. Thanks.
It’s sounds like your front suspension is the problem

See thread in struts
I had this problem twice. The issue I had with rattling/often grinding noise coming on the driver and or passenger was a wheel bearing and strut mount issue. The parts was diffective and was replace. After that no more noise...FYI I often her it at speed of 10 to 20mph.

Right, there is a similar thread here: https://www.vwatlasforum.com/forum/170-volkswagen-atlas-complaints-issues-problems/1890-2018-atlas-front-strut-problem.html

Hi all! Same issue here. Atlas SEL 4motion that is 2 months old, but from the day I drove the Atlas off the lot, I felt the driver side front wheel area made a knocking noise after hitting significant potholes, etc. Almost like a kickback rattle. Then, my wife tells me she hears a squeaking noise coming from the same driver side front when driving slow (0-25 MPH) on some bad streets in NJ and NYC. Sure enough, I hear it now too driving on some sandy/dirt roads on the Cape. I still think there is knock/rattle there in addition to the squeak. Best heard when radio is off. Also, park in a quiet area (garage is best), and push down on the front bumper and you will hear the squeak clearly even with the hood closed. Dealer said they didn't hear it on the street; however in the garage they said the 'left is significantly louder than the right' and they would order a new left strut. That was 2 weeks ago and haven't heard from them. My guess is they can't get the part due to demand.

I generally like the car other than this problem and the fact that the rain sensing wipers seem to never come on but I will post that problem separately.

Yes, I have had the scrunching as I describe it noise from the front end (presumably strut-related...boot...mount...bearing) but only hear it once in a while..it's on my list to talk to the dealer about.

Timely. I just went to the dealer this morning with a very faint noise coming from the front left. I was flexing the suspension in the garage and could her some noise from the front wheel well. I explained all this to the dealer and they refitted the rubber/plastic sleeve on the front shock. It seemed to get rid of the noise so far. Check the front plastic boots for noise. May be related to your problem, or maybe not. The noise I experienced was only noticeable with radio off, windows closed, and going 15mph. The tech did say that on the early Atlas he has seen the boot improperly installed.

Hope this helps.
Well, bought my Atlas in July 2018 and it was built in May 2018. So, apparently, they still haven't worked out how to install a strut or boot appropriately for the 2018 model.

Does anyone have a picture of the part or the boot or whatever that has to be adjusted or tightened or changed? Not that I will fix this myself, but I want to make sure I tell the dealer the right thing. They have the new left front strut to install but I fear they might not install it right just as the factory didn't. Unfortunately, they can't do it until 2 weeks from now. I will repost then if it is a success or not.

Thanks!
Oh and Monday will be third visit for front end noice clunking 20-30 mph. I may just give up on this. As posted in oil burn we may be receiving a new motor. 2018 with 4200 miles. My only worry is after I get off interstate going 75mph it’s clunking. They can’t find it. Are we safe at highway speeds?
I too had this rattling noise from the passenger side. This was the fuel hose vibrating and touching the car body. This was rectified at the local dealer facility, but still I hear this noise once a week....
I had a similar issue at under 30mph. Sorry for the blurriness my dealer sent me a video for some reason. They had to order the part from outside the US.

I had the same squeaking noise from my front driver side too on a brand new 2019 SEL R-line. They told me it was my brakes but it happens when I'm turning a corner and going very slow. I heard it while I was in a parking garage at 8k miles. The dealer said that they don't know. I even got the noise on video for them to hear. Still no solution.

I have the same problem with my Atlas 2020 and have taken it to the dealer twice, and the dealer is telling me that this is a know problem with Atlas and they can not do anything about it. this is so annoying.
