No - unless it was done wrong to somehow cook the ECU. What happened?did a quick search of the forums and did not find anything specific but have you heard of needing to replace an ECM after a 12v battery replacement?
our problem was the ASM (access Start Module) was friedChanged my battery this morning and it wouldn't start, got lots of warning, which others online had said as well. However, I also had a starter system fault along with brake booster warning as well. Called VW and they said someone tried to change their battery themselves and ended up hitting the ECM and fried it. I am about to get it towed to VW, I hope that isn't the issue. The service rep said it was about 3000 dollars to replace. Any updates on yours at all?
Long story ... first dealer had it for 3 weeks and tore the car apart before we had it towed to a different dealerOh wow, how much did that end up costing, if you don't mind me asking?
