Yes, you can use a weight distribution hitch without the spring bars attached. In that case, it functions like a normal hitch ball head. Obviously, you would want to make sure the 3,000 lb camper is within the rated tow capacity of the vehicle.

Thanks for replying dro. Used to have an F150 and no problems got rid of the truck because I wanted an suv. The atlas v6 seemed good choice at the time but I didn’t realize all the towing limitations it would provide. Don’t like the way my camper sits on the hitch they provided
