Didn’t search, I get it.
Not new to forum life, just this forum, so it’s a wonder why I didn’t search first.

just let the post die.
and if anybody else has this question and finds themselves here first, the squeak is not abnormal.

Another brake noise post - do a search please, it's been covered multiple times here. In fact, just google "sqeaky VW brakes backing up"..it's a pad compound issue and nothing to be concerned about and my VWs have done it since getting our first MK4 Jetta in '99. You can always swap out the pads but no, VW isn't going to warranty it.
I have a 2021 VW Atlas and I just noticed my brakes squeak and sometimes grind when I come to a stop. The dealer said there was nothing wrong with my brakes but when I went to 2 brake dealers they both said the pads are fine but that ceramic brakes will make noise. Basically, VW has put on cheap pads and make you the customer put decent pads which in my case is another $685.00.
Put your own pads on and your looking for a cost of $200 maybe...
I have a 2022 Atlas and I've go the noise grinding issue too. Worse when it is cold outside. I have called around to see if anyone can replace these brakes besides dealership and Nope there are none available yet. I agree with everyone, the noise is embarrassing.

Ceramic (vs organic vs metallic) is the quieter of all brake pads. It’s also the costlier. Semi/Metallic is the noisiest because metal produces heat best to produce best braking capabilities - but heat wears off everything down and so they will wear down rotors the quickest, causing grinding/squeaking. VW installs titanium. Middle-cost out of all brake pads.
