Bluetooth slow to pair

I just got an Atlas two days ago. I'm still learning about the car, but so far I'm very happy with it. One thing that's bugging me is it takes over a minute for bluetooth to pair with my phone (Pixel 2 XL). My phone will show it's connected to the car, but the car says no device is connected, then about a minute later it will start playing (usually a podcast). This seems like a long time. My 2015 Ford Expedition paired in seconds. My Atlas is the SE with Technology. This has nothing to do with Android Auto, just Bluetooth connection. My phone is not plugged into the USB in this scenario. Anyone else experiencing this?

I don't have that specific phone, but it seems like a problem with the Pixel 2 XL and VW. Did a bit of digging and someone else has to wait around 2 minutes before it connects, though I'm not sure if it's the Atlas or not. Hopefully Android fixes it in the next software update.
If it's a Atlas issue than I don't have high hopes of it getting fixed. I don't think these cars get updates all that often. At least that was the case with my Ford Expedition. The bluetooth delay is rather annoying; pretty much everything else I connect too is quick, my Expedition was very fast. I also connect to headphones and speakers with no significant delays. I have an old iphone I don't use anymore, I should give that a try in my Atlas.
I decided to time how long it takes for my Pixel 2 XL to connect. I get in the car and my phone is playing a podcast, then I start the car. After 20 seconds in the sound stops coming from my phone because my phone is connected to the car, but it takes an additional 60 seconds for the sound to come out of the car speakers. During that 60 seconds my podcast is technically playing, but sound isn't coming out of either the phone or the car.
The last two times I got in the car, the Atlas paired with my phone very fast, less than 10 seconds. I'm happy about that but a bit confused. Nothing has changed on my phone or the car.

I think that might have more to do with how its normal it is to restart these systems so things work. I guess as long as connections remain fast enough you have nothing much to worry about. Still, keep us posted.
