Picking up our 2019 Atlas SE w/ Tech, R-Line TOMORROW! Super excited! It's our 4th VW since my 1995 Jetta.. All our VWs have been FWD. Now having an All Wheel Drive, what's a better winter/snow tire for Colorado Mountains / High Country? More snow than ice here. Blizzaks and studded snows price out about the same, so more interested in what's the better tire for an all-wheel-drive. Thanks in advance all. Love the forum! -E

With the advancements in rubber compounds over the past yew years, I really don't think studded tires are a must have anymore. That being said I don't really know what the conditions are like up in the mountains. Studless tires generally have a deeper tread depth, which allows them to better manage snow and slush conditions.
