I can't say I've tested this. I can't recall doing any Rockford-style J turns in the Atlas where I'd need to go over 3-5 mph.My backup camera turns off while backing up if I drive any more than around 5mph in reverse. Does anyone else’s camera turn off in similar circumstances?
I'll seriously test this out if/when it stops raining to be sure, but I can't recall it turning off. I have a long gravel driveway, but its very muddy at the moment and you can bet I'm not going to get the Atlas dirty.Haha, I've got a very long drive way on a hill so it's very easy to get above 5mph. VW is telling me it's normal to shut off but that seems like a safety hazard to me (for it to shut off mid reverse regardless of the speed you're going). I wouldn't have thought anything of it but our other VW has a backup camera and it doesn't shut off and I had a loaner Atlas for 5 weeks while VW was dealing with a recall issue and that Atlas' backup camera never shut off so now I'm wondering if my car is anomaly and am really looking to see if any else's camera shuts off!
