Audio Output Issues

We have had a 2021 Atlas Premium R Line for about 2 months and we have had issues with the audio system output loading (the radio won't play mostly, can't speak or hear calls, nav won't load) but everything shows up on the screen. When this happens I have been holding the power button in for 10 seconds or so and it will fix the problem but today it wouldn't work and I had no radio or couldn't talk or hear calls. Has anyone else experienced this? If so what's the fix?

On the third visit to the dealer, it was determined by VW Headquarters my AM antenna (inlaid within the tailgate glass) was faulty. A new piece of glass is on order and to be installed in a couple of days. I sure hope this works. I miss AM talk radio and listening to the Cincinnati REDS.
Ha! The dealer had an outside glass company install the rear window. They managed to damage the underside of the two side panels surrounding the glass. They hid their break and now the panels will not remain in place. New panels are on order to return to the dealer for the fifth time. BTW, the static intensity on the AM band continues. Wonder why I get a burst of static when I use the windshield washer or a burst of static coinciding the each axle when going over a raised seam or sewer lid in the street surface? Sounds like a loose ground wire to me, but the mechanic doubts my guess. I, like everyone here, like this car for its utility and style, but the radio issue is getting me down badly.
My new 2021 atlas cross sport premium has had radio issues since a week after I purchased it. No volume, can’t connect to Apple play, just sporadic stuff sometimes the screen has a mind of its own and likes to go from setting to setting. I’ve called customer service, hour and a half on hold , to make a note and I emailed VW.com at customer care. Get everything on record. I have another appointment with a different dealership tomorrow to make more record of the audio issues. I’ve been told by two or three techs at two different dealerships that VW is aware of the situation. They say they’re waiting for an update or recall. I completely get the whole feeling of being down. Especially when I spend this kind of money on a car and no one seems to care. Please document everything with bw.com phone calls and dealerships.

I have a 2021.5 Atlas Execline R line and the audio flaked out the day after driving off the lot. Brought it back to be resolved and they told me it was a faulty battery (1 day old). It worked fine for a few more weeks and flaked out again. Brought it in and then VW claimed the softwares version was 2 generations old. It took over 24 hours to supposedly update the software. Worked fine for about a month and it is now crapping out again. Not impressed with VW’s lack of care or concern. This is my first VW and likely my last. I love the vehicle but not impressed with the dealership. Why did they sell a vehicle with outdated software and then not update when I brought it in the first time. I am happy to just now learn of the 10second power button fix.

It doesnt work....

I have had several techs tell me that VW knows about the issue but they are not doing anything about it.
We all need to complain to VW.com
Everyone on this forum with Atlas or Cross Sport radio/Apple Play, Phone etc.etc issues should write a letter with your issues described in understandable form to:
Volkswagen Customer CARE
3800 Hamlin Road
Auburn Hills, MI 48326-2829

Maybe, just Maybe we might get a response. There are a lot of people here bashing the brand, buyer's remorse and so on. VW central needs to know cause the individual dealers are not speaking out. The District managers need to know and on up the line.
My letter will go out tomorrow, one page polite but firm.
Excellent idea, although I did email customer service at VW.com
And their reply is they are not aware of any issues and that they would suggest I go to service to get it checked out. And if there’s any recalls I would get a letter in the mail. But I’m going to be a squeaky wheel. No pun intended
I will be sending out a letter as well. Thank you for the address information

VW wants to keep you at the dealer to avoid an onslaught of letters. Also, the mechanics like repeating visits by customers as they are paid by the job (the longer they’re working then more they make). The mechanic who has supposedly worked to find my static issue now wants to keep the car for five straight days so as to investigate. I think he sees dollar signs for him. He just had my car over night for a fix that could not have taken one hour at the most. I bought an SEL 3.6 Cross Over and driving a puny 4 cylinder Tiguan is not what I signed up for..
Thank you for your feedback on your cross sport atlas. I know we all didn’t spend $50,000 on a vehicle to bring it back-and-forth to the dealership within a couple of months of purchasing a vehicle. My dealership try to give me a Tiguan that was absolutely filthy. I complained about it immediately. This is unacceptable. And I’m going to be very loud about this with Volkswagen. Everyone needs to write letters,Emails and phone calls. Although I had to wait one hour and a half on hold to get through to somebody and customer service. This is acceptable I’m about ready to trade the car in for a Mini Cooper.

Thank you for this! I couldn’t figure out what was happened and this worked!
Just started having the audio output loss this morning and will try the 10 second power button push to see if that helps, thanks!

Some people have mentioned about a software update, what version are people running? I think that this is located in settings somewhere. Curious to see what version software people are running.

As I was reading through the posts, some people mentioned about the AM static. I have had this from the beginning as well, but I find that if I go to my station, then manually tune it, the station comes in clearer. For Example the local sports AM radio station is 650. I have a preset for 650 and I press it, its staticky, but then I click the Tune soft key on screen and change it to 660 then back to 650 (using the nob on the right - someone was asking what its used for, this is all I have ever used it for) my AM station will come in clear. For me it works every time doing this.
anyone had this solved? I'm having terrible issues with my brand new 2021 VW Tiguan and sound similar to above but worse: I just posted in the Tiguan forum. Every time I turn the car on and it hasn't been turned on for >8 hours, the entire system fails. Back up camera, screen, radio, navigation - Nothing will come on. Beeping still works but the entire system will not show up and all I'm left with is a black screen. After about 10-20 minutes it starts cycling through trying to start again, and the VW logo finally comes up. It can sometimes take up to 10-15 tries (another 10-15 minutes) before it is successful. I brought the car in for service and they did an update a week after I bought it, but it did not help the situation. Now it was in for service for two days, the issue happened in the dealership and they said their system still says nothing is wrong. They are ordering (on back order) and F5 module but said it could be months before it comes in and they don't even know if it will fix it. Just trying to see if anyone else is in a similar situation and what has happened.

We are having the same issues with 2022 r-line atlas. My android device works great however my wife's iPhone continously disconnects and won't play music. Please help this has been a very frustrating first week owning this brand new vehicle.
Had my 21 se r line in last week for the f5 module replacement due to display shutting off and car-net app not working properly. With the new module, now I can't connect to navigation. Spoke to dealership today and they said it affects all 2021 atlas vehicles and module is on backorder.
Wanted to let you know problem has been fixed. It took vw about a week and a half to figure it out (they gave us a loner) but so far for the past month or so it has worked perfectly
So, I have been having this same issue, the dealer first replaced the radio itself, still had issues, then replaced the F5 module and everything was great for a couple of weeks. Now it is acting up even more, I can't use car play, Navigation has issues, and now the Bluetooth connects but you can't hear anything, and car play will not connect. Plus, if my kids are using my tablet or have it charging it won't play any videos until its disconnected from Bluetooth and/or disconnected from the charger. Dealer has no clue what is going on and their Techline has no clue what is going on. They originally told me it was my iPhone that was causing all the issues. I had literally upgraded my phone before the radio was replaced because I thought it was my phone. Any suggestions?
My previous vehicle was a 2011 Nissan Pathfinder which is very basic technologically. Was considering purchasing the 2022 Pathfinder but decided to go with the Atlas instead. I am a 1st time VW owner & I picked up my 2022 SEL Premium R-Line Atlas Cross Sport December 5 ....... During the first 2 weeks my wife and I noticed that we were having a difficult time with apple car play and the radio/tech screen in general. Chalked it up to being newbies and getting acclimated to all the new tech.that my Pathfinder lacked. Then the radio/media screen blacked out and unable to use many of the features including carnet, nav, radio, CarPlay, lane assist, no cameras, heat works but unable to change blend door in order to direct heat to your feet or from dash etc, no seat memory, Basically nothing working in the infotainment system. 1st thing I did was google the issue I ws having and came across this forum so it seems this is not random and many people are having this same issue. Took it in for service and they said the F5 module needed to be replaced but it is on back order from Germany and will be a minimum of 2 weeks. Will update once installed

VW sent me an email stating fix was coming in august . Wonder if they will make car payment till then ? Terrible
Did they update it? I’d love to read that email
Curious to know if VW has done anything for for anyone dealing with these issues and if so what was offered?
We have a ‘22 Atlas R Line. Brand new and same issues with radio, navigation, warning systems going out. We will hear a loud noise and then lose all functionality. Last week it escalated and had an extremely loud thumping going through the speakers. My wife was driving a car full of kids and pulled over thinking it was an engine issue. The car was towed to the dealer for investigation. Thankfully she took a video of the noise to support the intensity of the noise. They of course couldn’t replicate it. They said they performed another software update that “should” take care of the issue. That was Saturday. Yesterday - 3 days later - same issue occurred.
We called corporate Volkswagon. Nice guy on the phone who said they are receiving a lot of these issues and they are working to resolve. Told him we are considering dumping the vehicle and he understood but only thing he could offer was $1,500 voucher we could use toward new Volkswagon. No intention of getting into another one of these so not very helpful.
Feels like to me the next step should be a class action lawsuit to prompt a serious response and investigation and/or compensation for selling a faulty product. I know ours was not cheap.

Well, this is incredibly frustrating. I have a brand new 2022 VW Atlas SEL Premium and this just started happening (purchased 3/5/22). Yesterday on my ride home from work, the SOS button was intermittently turning on/off, flashing, steady. Today, the audio system stops producing sound. Turned the system on/off, the car on/off, the phone on/off, the radio wasn't making sound either. So, it looks like the issue hasn't been fixed yet.
Previous posters have said it perfectly, I didn't spend $50k+ on a brand new vehicle with a premium sound system to get stuck going back and forth to the dealer. Who the **** has time for that? I'm going to be calling and writing corporate to get this fixed.
