You will most certainly have to do some coding and that may not be possible with VCDS etc., may require the dealer to handle. Also, need to figure out if you need any other modules beyond the seat control bits.
I have already attempted to discuss with dealer service but as usual they are clueless! That is why I value the forums for cars so much as you can find folks out there sometimes who have already trial and error'ed the job you are looking to tackle. I figure the seat is already power now you just need some way to store and recall saved seating positions with the new seat control panel having the buttons to select the seating modes and most likely coding to enable what is in the computer that will allow the seat state to be saved. I really cannot see what else should need done but I am not expert especially with electrical or coding. If I ever do get around to attempting this though, I will certainly share my findings. Not having a job at the moment kind of puts a damper on this being a "needed" expense LOL!I would call the dealer. I swapped seats in a few cars and on one occasion the dealer charged me a hundred bucks to get rid of a check engine light. I would find out if extra parts are involved in your project. It might be expensive.

Did you ever get anywhere with this idea ? I want to do the same thing but the dealer is useless as far as information goes. I don’t know why the memory would have to go through the cars computer it seems like the whole thing could be contained in a microchip in that switch. The switch connects directly to the controls for moving the seat according to the diagrams. So I think it could be done. Might have to get part to hold controls but I’m willing to try it.I am interested to see what it would entail to add memory seating to the drivers seat in our Atlas. I found a part number for the trim/control bezel for the side of the seat that has the buttons in it but wondered if it would need to be coded into the system via VAGCOM? Any thoughts, anyone else try this or have any input? Thanks a million!
