2018 voltswagen atlas new alternater not charging

Hey yes im new here. I have a 2018 voltswagen atlas with 105000 miles on it the battery would go dead, with checking the alternater it was bad so i replaced it and also bought a new battery. After replaceing both the new alternater would also not charge the battery. So i took it to the delear to do the diganistic test they first told me i need another new battery so i bought one for $ 500 the very next day the car died again so i care it back to the dealer the next day then they tell me i need another new alternater after i just replaced the week before so i bought another new alternater i decided to replace it myself since they wanted $ 2,000 for another one and the labor. So once again after the new alternator replace it still does not work its not putting fire back into the battery. Does anyone know what could be wrong going on about two months trying to figure out the problem and not no one knows the dealer or anyone someone please help thanks!

These cars aren't as simple as plug/play potentially here - the alterator/battery change likely requires some programming in the ECU. No need fora dealer battery - any H6 AGM will work. Where did you get the alternator?

I read today that the battery issues are because of the start stop feature.

Get this code reader and setter on Amazon about 80 bucks and u can reset the stats on the new battery and alternator.

So does the alternator need to be reset after you replace it ??

When the battery is replaced the. CCA number needs to be changed so the alternater charges at the correct rate. Otherwise, it may over or under charge. In the case of the alternator setting, it may also need a setting. Remember, these new VWs have every thing running on a computer chips. No more on off switches. I turned my start stop off permanently on my 2019 SE with Technology. Less starting over and over wears out the starter and oil drains from the top of the engine wearing out the cams and lifters. The code reader i suggested will allow you to do so. There are VW podcasts by THE HUMBLE MECHANIC. GO TO YOUTUBE AND LOOK IT UP. Good luck.

Thank you all i finally found they problem somthing the dealer or no one ever told me its the battery sensor on the negivie battery post if you unplug the sensor it works if you have it pluged up it dont so time to get it fixed and go back to a ford

How did you permanently remove the on/off switch?..

I used OBDeleven on my 2018 SEL-P. There is an app or you can code using instructions on the forum. It is a very simple change to the restart voltage set point. Essentially makes the car think it always needs to be running. I know the technology is mature and widely used, but the engineer in me hates to hear the constant restarts.
