Hi all, just picked up a used 2018 SE but it only came with one fob. Definitely need a duplicate or two. What is the best and preferably cheapest way to go about this? Thanks

Welcome to the forum gumpper :smile2:

You can find them on E-Bay, however they will need to be programmed.

Right. You can order the key/fob but only the dealer can program it. They charge like $100+ and it takes like 40 min. I had to do it when I bought mine pre owned this summer.

Thanks, that's what I figured but was hoping to avoid getting gouged by the dealership. Has anyone tried to do the programming through a locksmith?

Yes. I contacted several. They can't do it. Only dealers seem to have the machine. They have to connect to your car and program it. It literally takes like 30+ minutes.

@gumpper thanks for this question. I also just got a 2018 Atlas SE with just one key fob. My local VW dealer quoted me $391 for the fob and programming. Seems pretty ludicrous, especially when i can buy factory key fobs for $75. Did you have any luck with a third party or bite the bullet with going through a dealer?
